S.O.S Program (Supporting Our Seniors): Volunteers provide services, and in return receive credits that they can use in the future for the same types of services. Volunteers can use the credits themselves or donate them to a relative, neighbor or friend. Volunteers provide services that enable elderly or disabled adults remain independent at home. Services may include friendly visits or calls, writing letters, shopping, errands, and transportation.
Volunteers can also earn credit by providing transportation for foster care children.
Grand Junction Community Homeless Shelter: Volunteers working the morning shift (6:45-8:00am) wake guests, oversee that chores are completed, make coffee and deliver linens to be cleaned. Volunteers working the evening shift (5:45 - 7:00pm) complete intake paperwork, assign chores, distribute bedding, serve dinner, and visit with the quests.
Clerical/Work Study Program: Individuals looking to gain clerical experience can apply for volunteer positions located throughout the Mesa County Department of Human Services. Experience can be gained in the areas of telephone skills, data entry, filing, work processing, mailings, organization and reliability. Those who already have clerical experience looking to volunteer their time are also welcome.

Volunteer Opportunities: Six volunteer stations: Greeter, Storage, Mail and Message, Showers, Laundry and Patio. Duties of each station also include cleaning the Center. In addition to working each station, volunteers are encouraged to interact with guests in order to provide an emotional supportive environment. Our aim is to make friends with our homeless guests so they feel that society has not abandoned them. Volunteers need to be stable members of the community who have the ability to relate constructively with those less fortunate than themselves. Hours 7:30 am - 12:30 pm Mon-Fri.

Organization's Purpose: To promote the independence, health and well being of the elderly in Mesa County through quality nutrition services. Services include noon meals served at dining locations at which seniors gather and noon meals delivered to homebound elderly.

Organization's Purpose: RSVP's purpose is to help people 55 and over become involved in meaningful volunteer opportunities in order to make a difference in their lives and the lives of others in our community.
Volunteer Opportunities: Our one hundred and five agencies (volunteer stations) utilize our senior volunteers and provide a wide range of opportunities for seniors to use their skills, interests, talents and loving hearts in service to others. Organization's Purpose: MDS serves individuals with developmental disabilities in Mesa County. MDS offers several opportunities for volunteers. People with developmental disabilities enjoy a variety of community activities and opportunities to learn.
Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteers may act as peer companions, recreational assistants, reading tutors, program/training assistants and volunteer advisors for a self-advocacy club. Volunteers are also utilized in clerical and office operations.
Volunteers may find permanent employment at MDS after establishing an interest and expertise in the area of developmental disabilities. Most find the warmth and appreciation of those with whom they work to be very gratifying.
