Volunteer Opportunities: Data Entry Clerk: Needed in all City Departments. Provides opportunities to increase data entry skills.
General Clerical: Grand Junction Police Department's Records Division welcomes volunteers for a variety of clerical skills. Average commitment is two to four hours a week.
Victim Assistance Volunteer: Grand Junction Police Dept. program that offers emotional and informational support to victims of traumatic events. Requires one shift a week.
Trail Host: Provide a friendly presence on City Parks & Rec river trails and parks. Requires one 2-hr shift a week.

S.O.S Program (Supporting Our Seniors): Volunteers provide services, and in return receive credits that they can use in the future for the same types of services. Volunteers can use the credits themselves or donate them to a relative, neighbor or friend. Volunteers provide services that enable elderly or disabled adults remain independent at home. Services may include friendly visits or calls, writing letters, shopping, errands, and transportation.
Volunteers can also earn credit by providing transportation for foster care children.
Grand Junction Community Homeless Shelter: Volunteers working the morning shift (6:45-8:00am) wake guests, oversee that chores are completed, make coffee and deliver linens to be cleaned. Volunteers working the evening shift (5:45 - 7:00pm) complete intake paperwork, assign chores, distribute bedding, serve dinner, and visit with the quests.
Clerical/Work Study Program: Individuals looking to gain clerical experience can apply for volunteer positions located throughout the Mesa County Department of Human Services. Experience can be gained in the areas of telephone skills, data entry, filing, work processing, mailings, organization and reliability. Those who already have clerical experience looking to volunteer their time are also welcome.

Organization's Purpose: RSVP's purpose is to help people 55 and over become involved in meaningful volunteer opportunities in order to make a difference in their lives and the lives of others in our community.
Volunteer Opportunities: Our one hundred and five agencies (volunteer stations) utilize our senior volunteers and provide a wide range of opportunities for seniors to use their skills, interests, talents and loving hearts in service to others. Volunteer Opportunities: St. Mary's volunteers extend the services offered by the hospital's professional staff and add a touch of warmth, friendliness and support to the mission, vision, and values of the hospital. Our patients, families, visitors and over 60 different departments benefit from volunteer assistance. Positions include clerical, customer service, and patient assistance. Flexible schedules with evening and weekend hours are available for working adults and students who are at least 14 years of age.

Organization's Purpose: The mission of Easter Seals Colorado is to partner with people with disabilities and their families to create solutions to help change and improve their lives so they can live with equality, dignity and independence. Our services are available to people of any age with any kind of disability.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Computer Donation Program: Need people with some level of computer literacy.
Recreation Program: Ranging from Winter Adaptive Ski Program, to summer river rafting and camping trips for people with disabilities.
Office Administration: Computer data entry, bulk mailing of monthly newsletter, filing, etc. These positions vary from long term to short term. We can be flexible to accommodate the availability of the volunteer.

Organization's Purpose: Hospice exists to provide expert medical and support services, specifically designed to enhance the quality of life of patients, families, and others facing life-threatening illness, and to support the bereaved during their experience of grief.

Office Volunteers: Provide staff, family and patient support.
Bereavement Volunteers: Provide support to anyone experiencing grief.

Organization's Purpose: We are a health care facility providing medical, dental, optical, counseling, and pharmaceutical services to low-income, uninsured residents of Mesa County. We also have recently started accepting Medicaid recipients in our dental clinic.
Volunteer Opportunities:
Medical Screener: Assist medical staff with taking vital signs (blood pressure, height, weight, respiration, etc.) and patient flow in and out of exam rooms. Training provided. Medical background preferred. Commitment consists of a standing weekly time of 4 hours/week.
Receptionist: Assist front desk with patient check-in, scheduling, registration, telephone calls and medical records. Commitment consists of a standing weekly time of 4 hours/week.
Data Entry: Assist administration with input of daily patient sheets and word processing. Flexible schedule as needed. Computer experience required.
Medically Indigent Pharmaceutical Program Clerk: Process pharmaceutical applications for free medications for patients. Mature applicants only. Extensive training required. Commitment consists of a standing weekly time of 4 hours/week.
File Clerk: Assist with medical and/or dental records management. Filing, filling records requests, locating records for upcoming appointments, etc. Flexible schedule, will train.
Retired medical professionals are encouraged to call with specific interests and questions.

Organization's Purpose: MDS serves individuals with developmental disabilities in Mesa County. MDS offers several opportunities for volunteers. People with developmental disabilities enjoy a variety of community activities and opportunities to learn.
Volunteer Opportunities: Volunteers may act as peer companions, recreational assistants, reading tutors, program/training assistants and volunteer advisors for a self-advocacy club. Volunteers are also utilized in clerical and office operations.
Volunteers may find permanent employment at MDS after establishing an interest and expertise in the area of developmental disabilities. Most find the warmth and appreciation of those with whom they work to be very gratifying.

Mission Statement: To provide affordable temporary emotional and psychological support to troubled families and teach communications skills to help people improve their lives, regardless of ability to pay. We serve people from all income groups and work to negotiate affordable fees for service.
Volunteer Opportunities: Office Assistant: assist secretary with front office operations. Event volunteer: help instructor check in class members, accept fees; able to stay for class on Thursday evenings 7 to 9, help to put away materials. Yard sale manager: coordinate pricing and storage of items for an annual spring yard sale. Computer data input: knowledgable person to maintain, update Access, Excel files, Word library inventory.

Volunteer Opportunities: Six volunteer stations: Greeter, Storage, Mail and Message, Showers, Laundry and Patio. Duties of each station also include cleaning the Center. In addition to working each station, volunteers are encouraged to interact with guests in order to provide an emotional supportive environment. Our aim is to make friends with our homeless guests so they feel that society has not abandoned them. Volunteers need to be stable members of the community who have the ability to relate constructively with those less fortunate than themselves. Hours 7:30 am - 12:30 pm Mon-Fri.
